Why does ’everyone’, regulators included, lump ALL Lithium chemistries into the ’thermal runaway’ risk? Some chemistries, most notably Lithium Titanate as used on our Revolution VLR train cannot thermally runaway - but nonetheless we, Transport Design International, will be obliged to comply with regulations regarding containment, thermal detection and extinguishing as if our batteries are based on the inferior Lithium-NMC chemistry. In my experience, the introduction of battery onto trains (as well as being focused solely on Lithium) will be held back if we cannot discriminate (in all respects) between the several Lithium chemistries with objectivity and scientific understanding.
